Day Two- Thursday, 3/30/17
Up around 6am. A quiet night at the keyboard with a few Pabsts.
More coffee and then a trip to LA Fitness. I plan to run the neighborhood and then hit the machines- and steam and sauna.
At LA Fitness by 8am after four cups of free Motel 6 coffee. I wasn't sure that I was heading the right way on Bell, and asked a couple of guys opening up a burger joint. I was heading correctly; the fitness center is at 55th and Bell- west from the motel.
Almost 70, no wind, and not a cloud in the sky. 55th north, then east, then south, then west; a 45" square. Maybe tomorrow the other way. Slow but steady. 45" Recumbent Bike (Lilly White). 45" Cross (silence). 30" Walk. 3.5/0. 30" Bike. I should have brought the recharger for the player. You have to listen to a radio signal to listen to the TV. Then, almost 45" in the steam/whirlpool/pool area. A woman showed me how to get the steam to come on. You just douse the register!
On the way to Paradise I stopped at the Frys at 43rd for paper plates, chips, and mouthwash.
1pm. I tried to let him push him around the neighborhood in his wheelchair, but he wasn't having it. i would have had to push him across the street because he doesn't have sidewalks on his side. Then, I told him that we would go for a drive and stop at McD's for an ice cream cone on the way back. We were driving straight south and we almost got to Rt. 10. I thought I was heading North, we were going due South toward the airport. He had a cone and I had a cheese burger. We went through the drive-up because I didn't want him to have to get out of the car.
Back to Paradise Lane and we talked and he hollered for another couple of hours. I left at 530pm. This might be the last time that I see Laura because she is off tomorrow and Saturday. She's unhappy and thinks that Cindy is not qualified to be a manager. She might be right. Cindy was working when I got there at 1pm and Laura came on at 3pm for the 'three to eleven' shift.
Sometime before early Sunday morning I must find out the procedure for dropping off the car when the place is closed. I'm sure I've used a drop off box, but I must know where to go exactly. I don't want to leave anything to chance that early in the morning and might endanger missing the flight.
I was able to get the radio in the car to work and I found out the release on the gas cap.
email to Janny at 630pm from the motel-

This was not such a bad day
I had a wonderful run from LA Fitness, followed by a very long workout, and a very long session in the steam room, whirlpool, and pool. And, I arrived at Paradise Lane at the stroke of one PM.
Cindy was on duty and I re-met her. She didn't recognize me when she answered the door, but quickly recovered. The last time she saw me I was clean shaven from the neck up.
I suggested that I try to push him around the neighborhood in his wheelchair. It would have been great, not a cloud in the sky, calm, and temps in the mid 70's, but he would have nothing to do with it. I got him to the edge of the drive and he wanted to go back or 'go for a drive'. I put him by the front door, and backed the Yaris up the drive. Cindy came out and put him in the passenger seat. I told her that I didn't want him to get out of the car, and the plan was to take 43rd south and hit the McD's drive through on the way back to get him a cone. He seemed to enjoy himself and his temper was not a factor.
However, when he got back in his chair he started to demand his wheelchair and walker- "in case of an emergency". None of the helpers want those two items anywhere near the recliner because he is tempted to get out of the chair without assistance, and those days are far behind him. And, on top of the yelling for the wheelchair and walker, he also wanted to 'got for a drive because the weather was so beautiful'. And when reminded of the cone, he remembered eating ice cream, but he was still convinced that he didn't go anywhere.
I left about 530pm and this might be the last time that I see Laura. She's off the next two days, and she's not happy with the way things have been going at Elsie's House. There is clearly 'drama in the house' and I guess Laura feels that Cindy was promoted over her. I think Laura is a very nice person and she really cares for the clients, but I am obviously in no position to REALLY know what's going on.
Laura told me of a theater that shows movies for three bucks that's just a few blocks from the motel. They're showing FENCES with Denzel Washington and THE FOUNDER with Michael Keaton, but both of these excellent films are already in my Netflix que, and I've really come to enjoy a 'private showing' of almost anything.
Looks like me, LILY WHITE, Chromebook, and a few Pabsts for tonight.
PS- The foolishness with this internet service is clumsy and stupid. My 24 Pass to High Internet Speed (and any connectivity) ends in an hour or so, and I'm anticipating another trip to the office to reset the connection. And, in order to have the phone hooked up is too byzantine to actually apply. If I want to add the phone, I have to disconnect to Chromebook, and when I'm done with the phone, try to reconnect the Chromebook. Only one device at a time- Idiotic, but highly profitable, I bet. ....seeya ...and, thanks again for watching Buddy and the nice snapshot.
710pm, Thursday- Expecting to be kicked off the Internet soon and I checked the speed at Google.
5.50 Mbps download
1.07 Mbps Upload
This is bullshit! At five bucks a day, this is $150 a month for two steps up from dialup.
Internet connectivity ended abruptly at 740pm, but it was a snap to reconnect. Thank the fucking 'Lard'. Sippin' and watchin' MY 600 POUND LIFE....oh, the life on vacation
